Hi everyone!

It's Day-3 of our LRNZ-fest, showcasing his work in multiple disciplines. Today we're focusing on his comic work -- not just GOLEM and MONOLITH (which we've showcased pretty extensively already by this point), but also some of his other works that you might not be aware of...

The full blog, with additional/larger art, links, and sample pages can be found on our website here (and at LRNZ.IT) but here's a peek at what you'll find there:

GHOST IN THE SHELL: GLOBAL NEURAL NETWORK

GLOBAL NEURAL NETWORK is a 4-story comic anthology set in the world of Ghost in the Shell. “Star Gardens” was written by Brenden Fletcher and illustrated by LRNZ.
Published by Kodansha

ASTROGAMMA

RANOCCHIO SALVA TOKYO

TIME IS OUT OF JOINT

A short comic book set in Rome, inside the Modern and Contemporary Art National Gallery.

Tomorrow we'll take a look at some of LRNZ's work in live-action film design! In the meantime, please share the link and spread the word! We're SOOOOO close to unlocking the Challenge Coin!

Gallery/Spotlight #2 - Covers

Hi everyone!

Day 2 of our "8 Days of LRNZ" showcase takes a look at just a few of the various covers LRNZ has created for a number of novels, comics, and magazines.

We posted a gallery of over a dozen LRNZ covers on our website here, but take a look at just a few of the most recent pieces you'll find there:

(Click on the images below to visit LRNZ.IT, where he discusses each project a bit, including process stages, zoomed-in details, and commentary...)

Wraparound cover illustration for Jeff Vandermeer's BORNE (novel), 2018.
Cover to the 2019 comic anthology SYNTH/org from Attaccapanni Press.
From a 2017 issue of CP Company magazine, spotlighting fashion trends in Otomo's AKIRA.
Wraparound cover to Jeff Vandermeer's AREA X Trilogy, 2018.

These are just some of his newest works since the publication of VIEWPOINT in 2016. If you really want a full dose of eye-candy, be sure to pick up a copy of VIEWPOINT with your pledge, the 200-page, comprehensive collection his amazing work spanning over 10 years across multiple disciplines!

We'll showcase more of his recent works in updates every day throughout the campaign! In the meantime, please share the link and spread the word! We've got some great stretch goals to unlock! :D

Gallery Spotlight #1: GOLEM (with fully-animated trailer!)
about 3 years ago – Mon, Feb 15, 2021 at 12:28:20 PM

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was... odd? Not bad, just... puzzling. They say Kickstarter is a speculative market, like stock trading, in that their performance can be influenced by thousands of different things happening in the world, including things that may seem completely unrelated. Like a butterfly affecting weather patterns a thousand miles away... sometimes it can be impossible to tell what forces are at work behind the events you are watching every day...

In our case, we're curious about backer trends: After an AMAZING Day-1 and a solid Day-2, the last three days have been surprisingly slow growth... Maybe it was the double-holiday distraction (Valentine's Day + President's Day), or maybe it's the massive cold front sweeping the entire United States, or maybe it's some other online event we don't even know about drawing a lot of attention. Who knows? (Anyone have any ideas or theories?)

But with 3 weeks still to go, we've got a lot of great content to share, and some cool bonuses still to reveal and unlock! In fact, we're preparing 8 days of Galleries Spotlights on LRNZ's spectacular work grouped into a variety of categories, starting TODAY with a fresh new look at GOLEM! And the most exciting part of that spotlight is the 3-minute fully-animated trailer directed by LRNZ!

This trailer was produced as a proof-of-concept for a feature-length adaptation (which may still happen -- feature deals can take forever to get made...), but then used to promote last year's re-release of the comic as part of a series celebrating the best Italian comic authors. This new animated trailer was written by Maruo Uzzeo, with 2D animation by LRNZ and Fabio Ramiro, 3D animation by Angelo Caramanica and Lino Grandi, Vocal direction by Leslie La Penna, and Music by Panoram and Buromaschinen

We created a new spotlight page full of information about the book, character bios, review quotes, sample pages, an interview with LRNZ (from 2016), and a link to DOWNLOAD THE FIRST 48 PAGES OF GOLEM FOR FREE!

Visit the new Spotlight page featuring videos, interviews, character bios, and a link to download the first 48 pages for FREE!

As of this posting, there are ONLY 253 COPIES OF GOLEM LEFT!

And no current plans to print more!

When these are gone, the title is going "into the vault," as Disney like's to say...

Drawing influences from comic styles found around the world, GOLEM is still one of the most visually unique and stunning comics released to date. With a shifting visual style that changes to suit the dramatic or psychological mood of each sequence, be it flashback, dream sequence, stark reality, or fast-paced action, it becomes like a sci-fi visual symphony -- you won't find another graphic novel like this anywhere!

So check out the spotlight page and be sure to grab a copy of GOLEM with your pledge before they're all gone!

about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 12, 2021 at 03:58:31 PM

Happy Friday, everyone!

We hope you all had a productive week and are heading into a relaxing weekend. We are definitely ready to put the PC to sleep for the night and call it a Friday. After such a spectacular start, we put together a plan for two weeks of bonus-content-filled daily updates starting next week! We're talking galleries, videos, interviews, giveaways, and links that you won't want to miss!

Hopefully, that'll bring more people into the circus tent so that together we can unlock even more stretch goals! Just look at the bonuses that everyone (*at a physical tier) will now get for FREE!

So stay tuned and please -- SPREAD THE WORD!

Share your pledge and tell your friends to join us for this exciting event!

YESTERDAY. WAS. AMAZING. Thank you!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 10, 2021 at 04:00:49 PM

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the MONOLITH Kickstarter campaign! If you're new here, take a look around! The walls are padded for your safety! If you're familiar with the place, then make yourselves at home. We try to keep these campaigns a bit casual with content-laced updates, some spritely banter, and 100% transparency. (Those of you who've followed us through the last four campaigns know how each campaign ends up being its own adventure...)

We are BLOWN AWAY by the fantastic day-1 response to this project! Not only reached our goal in under an hour, but had unlocked the upgraded materials stretch goal within the first 4 hours, the bonus cardstock print by bedtime, and now you're THIS CLOSE to unlocking the production sketchbook! (So close I have to wonder if we'll cross it before I finish typing this update...)

Next up after that would be the Challenge Coin -- we've done one for each of our campaigns so far, and -- yes -- there will be collector's value in them soon as we get our Ambassadors Club ready for launch this year! We have learned to spread out our stretch goals a bit, to keep them truly incentivizing, but with over 3 weeks to go, I think you're well on your way to seeing what's beyond that... ;)

ADD-ONS ARE NOW WORKING

There was a little trouble with the Add-ons not working this morning, but it should be straightened out now. We will be offering even more add-ons through Backerkit after the campaign (earlier campaign books, any leftover bonus items, etc), so if there is something you'd like that you're not sure how to add to your pledge, send us a message and we'll let you know how to go about it.

SOME CLARIFICATIONS

There were a few changes to this campaign that we wanted to make clear in case anyone wasn't sure:

1) These books will not include signed bookplates. (There are bookplates attached to the portfolio add-ons, but those are also leftover from the VIEWPOINT campaign.) The authors, particularly LRNZ, are incredibly busy for the next several months, and it would be impossible to coordinate time between the three of them to sign over 1000 bookplates. They are all very much behind this campaign and have been very supportive with all of the stuff we plan to share over the next few weeks, but unfortunately, bookplates just aren't in the picture this time.

2) The ORPHANS Season One Box Set is not limited to 250 -- we will produce however many necessary to meet demand. But only for this printing. When they are gone, that's it. Unfortunately, we can't change a tier once someone has backed it. So if that tier sells out, we will open another tier with the same offering.

We've got some cool galleries and videos to showcase in the coming days and weeks. Stay tuned! This is gonna be a fun ride!
